This week Frederick Memorial Healthcare System kicks off the annual celebration of National Nurses’ Week (May 6-12, 2010). It’s traditionally a time for the community to take a moment to thank our amazing nurses – but this year we’re taking it a step further.
Thursday*, May 6th, we’re hosting our first annual Nurses’ Day Rally from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the Baker Park Band Shell. Whether you happen to be a nurse or you know and appreciate one, everyone is welcome to make some noise, celebrate the nursing profession (and our FMH nurses in particular) and share inspirational stories. We’ll also crown our FMH Nurse of the Year!
*By now you may be wondering why Nurses’ Week starts on a Thursday (and if you weren’t, you are now – right?). The reason is that National Nurses’ Week is celebrated each year between May 6th, National Nurses’ Day, and May 12th, which is the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.
