Those of us who’ve lived here in Frederick County for a while know it’s an amazing area with a great sense of community. For those of you who happen to be a little newer to the neighborhood, I offer these examples to prove the point:
This group of young teens spent three months stitching and stuffing a dozen sock monkeys, then delivered them to the FMH Pediatric Department. They delivered two of them to patients in the Pediatric Emergency Department on May 18, 2011 and got to see first-hand just how happy our young patients were to pick up a new friend during their visit to the hospital.
The girls got the idea to hand-make the sock monkeys from an activity book. Each of the cadettes earned her silver award in the effort.
The Rita’s crew is always full of energy and they keep the kids smiling throughout their visits.
… and last, but not least:
Frederick Keys‘ players Sean Gleason and Jacob Julius (and Keyote, of course) have been in to visit the kids on our Pediatrics Unit twice this year. You should see the kids’ faces light up when they see these guys walk into the room.
From individuals and businesses, to foundations and our own employees, FMH is truly blessed to enjoy generous support from the Frederick Community. Your support has raised close to $9.7 million toward our Transforming Healthcare in our Community campaign goal of $10 million to help support two vital service lines at FMH – the new Women’s Center at FMH Crestwood and expanded Cardiovascular, Interventional and Electrophysiology services.
