One week from today (on Monday, November 14, 2011) construction crews are scheduled to begin setting up a large crane near the hospital loading dock. Once the 550-ton base is built, our neighbors will notice tractor trailer traffic along Seventh Street, Trail Avenue and Park Avenue. These trucks will be bringing pieces of the crane’s boom arm to the construction site.
The pieces of the boom arm fill a total of five tractor trailers. In order to ease the impact on our neighbors, only one truck will be on-site at any time. The trucks will stage at the FMH Materials Distribution Center (605 East Church Street) and come over to be off-loaded as workers on the site are ready for their cargo.
Once the crane is fully constructed, it will be used to move materials to the roof for the new helipad. We expect the crane to be in place for about five weeks.
