Work continues inside and outside the walls of the hospital — here’s the latest!
Elevator Construction on the First Floor
A temporary hallway through the Surgical Waiting Area has been constructed to provide privacy for our patients during transport. This temporary re-routing will only be in place for a short amount of time. We expect the door relocation will be complete and we’ll be back to our normal traffic patterns this week.
4-A North (8 new private patient rooms)
Duct work and bulkhead inspections took place over the holidays. Drywall hanging is underway and the priming and painting of the walls will take place over the next several weeks. Some of the rooms have the tile placed in the bathrooms, and other rooms have some of the fixtures installed. Work is proceeding sequentially so not all of the rooms are at the same stage of completion.
2-C (12 new private patient rooms)
Painting of the new rooms continued over the holidays. Medical gas alarms are being installed in all of the rooms. As with the fourth floor construction, not all of the rooms are in the same stage of completion. Some of the rooms have received the second coat of paint, while others are being primed. Some rooms have the tile in the bathrooms, while others are still being roughed in. Construction is proceeding according to schedule and plan.
Winter-like weather has finally come to Frederick, but last week’s cold snap didn’t slow work on the helipad. Aside from a day or two lost because of high winds, the crane was been able to continue hoisting building materials to the roof.
The crane finished its work and has been removed from the loading dock area of the hospital ahead of schedule. The crane will return when the roof work is completed to remove scafolding and other construction equipment from the roof.
As you can see from the photo, a great deal of progress has been made on the landing site.
