Cancer Center Entrance to Close August 13th
On Monday, August 13, the 7th Street entrance to the Regional Cancer Therapy Center will be permanently closed to vehicular traffic. The City of Frederick has mandated the closure as a condition of placing a stoplight at the intersection of 7th Street and the driveway to the FMH parking garage that runs parallel to Hood College.
Concrete barriers will be put into place on August 13 and will remain in place until curbing and sidewalk can be constructed.
Vehicles will enter and exit the Regional Cancer Therapy Center exclusively from Toll House Avenue.
Satellite Parking for FMH Employees
Because the construction on the parking deck will reduce the number of parking spaces available on the FMH campus, more than 300 FMH employees have volunteered to park in satellite lots to make more room for our patients and visitors.
The graphic shows three area lots being used by FMH employees and students doing their internships at the hospital. Lots A and B have been in operation for about a month. Lot C–the farthest away from the hospital– became operational last week. Shuttle bus service to and from the hospital is being provided while the satellite lots are in operation. All overnight employees will continue to park in the parking garage.
Campus Entrance Closed
The entrance to the hospital campus at the intersection of 7th Street and the driveway to the parking garage that runs parallel to the Hood College campus will be closed to all traffic the week of August 20th. The entrance will remain closed until the later part of November 2012.
The week of August 20th, construction crews will begin to place fencing around the construction site to secure the area from vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Once the perimeter fencing is put into place, the orange construction fencing will delineate the work area within the perimeter. Black silt fencing will control dust and water run-off. Construction equipment should begin to arrive on site later this month. Construction on the temporary entrance to the garage off of Park Avenue is scheduled to begin at approximately the same time.
