Park Avenue Gas Line Work to Begin Soon
In the coming weeks, the local gas company will begin working on Park Avenue to extend underground gas lines to the hospital. We do not have a specific schedule for when the work may begin because the gas company is unable to be more specific than a three-month window. The good news is the work should be completed quickly and disruption is expected to be minimal.
Entrance Improvement Work Begins at 7th Street & Park Avenue
Visitors to the hospital over the next two weeks will see chain link fencing going up around the construction site. The fencing serves to secure the area for the safety of the workers and the public.
One fence will run the length of Hood College, cross the hospital’s westernmost 7th Street entrance and run along Hood College Drive. Another fence will enclose the construction area where the temporary Park Avenue entrance to the parking garage will be constructed.
Construction equipment will begin arriving within the next seven to 10 days and construction will be underway in approximately two weeks.
Interior Construction Continues
Construction of the new inpatient unit on the 4th floor, 4A – South, is progressing nicely. Workers are continuing to hang drywall, and they have begun to frame in the bulkheads. As you can see in the picture, electrical and plumbing pipe feeds are being installed in headboards, and the drop ceiling scaffolding is being put into place.
Helipad Construction is Nearing Completion
Construction of the helipad is nearly complete. Workers painted the FAA-approved landing graphic onto the pad and the work on the interior of the ramp leading from the landing pad to the elevators is complete. Helicopter flights are scheduled to begin using the rooftop landing pad in October.
