Park Avenue Entrance Construction Nearly Complete
The entrance to the parking garage from Park Avenue is nearly ready for use. The inlaid brick pavers add a “high-end” touch to the appearance of the entrance. When the landscaping is in place it will be even more attractive.
The card-activated entry/exit gates will be installed by the end of the week. The gates are inside of the garage and will not be visible. Signage is being produced to direct traffic within the parking garage structure. It will be important to keep traffic flowing smoothly within the structure so that no bottlenecks slow down entry or exit.
Traffic is not scheduled to begin using the entrance until the north entrance to the garage is closed for construction. Remember that the entrance is by card access only for 250 users plus valet parking, and that after construction of the garage is completed the entrance will be permanently closed and only available for use in the case of an emergency.
We want to thank our neighbors for their patience during construction of the Park Avenue entrance. We hope that any inconvenience was kept to a minimum and that you are as pleased as we are with the rapid pace of the construction.
Water Management System Work Continues
Work continues along Emma Smith Drive to place the storm water runoff management system underground. It is a huge construction project that has required the use of heavy earth-moving equipment and the coordination of manpower and materials.
Great progress has been made. The conduits and drains have been installed along the north two-thirds of the drive. Connections to the city’s sewer system have been made underneath Seventh Street. The work will continue closer to the garage – burying the concrete bunkers and connecting the metal pipes – for several more weeks. After that, graders will come in to level the land and a bed of gravel will be put into place. It is our hope to have the asphalt poured before the end of the year. Work is continuing at full speed because there are temperature limitations that come into play when pouring the asphalt. The project is still on schedule to be operational after the first of the year.
New Patient Rooms Opening Soon
The new patient care unit on the fourth floor is nearing completion. The head boards in the patient rooms are in place, the wallpaper is up, painters are hard at work in the hallways and the final touches are being applied to the nursing station.
Equipment and supplies will be delivered to the unit and it is on schedule to begin caring for patients before the end of the month.
