It’s been exactly one month since we made our New Year’s resolutions. How’s it going?
According to the Journal of Clinical Psychology, 45% of Americans make resolutions and, of those, 64% stick with it into February. Unfortunately just 26% are going strong by July. The top three resolutions are losing weight, saving money and quitting bad habits.

Our Outlook and Individual Counseling programs begin with an appointment with a Registered Dietitian, who will provide you with a meal plan designed to meet your food preferences and accommodate your busy schedule. We’ll do a Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) test to determine your specific calorie needs, and build a healthy and enjoyable meal plan that will allow you to lose 1 – 2 pounds per week. You can then decide if you want your program to include weekly weigh-ins and group education sessions, or continued individual appointments.
Our New Direction program is a medically monitored very low calorie diet designed for those who have 40 or more pounds to lose. Average weight loss is 2 – 5 pounds per week. This program begins with a medical pre-screening, and includes weekly education sessions and continued medical monitoring to ensure your safety. When you are close to your goal weight, you will work with a Registered Dietitian to slowly increase your calorie level and re-introduce regular food back into your meal plan. When you reach your goal, a Registered Dietitian can provide you with a meal plan at a calorie level that will enable you to manage your weight for a lifetime.
In the past year, participants in a 12 week session of our New Direction program achieved:
- an average weight loss of 40 pounds (16% of body weight)
- decreased BMI by an average of seven points
- lowered triglycerides by an average of 73 points
- lowered total cholesterol by an average of 38 points
- decreased LDL cholesterol by an average of 15 points.
