As you can see in the aerial photo above, the FMH campus continues to show signs of progress as we work through our construction projects.
Look a little to the left of the center of the photo and you’ll see the rooftop helipad. Looking just in front of the existing parking garage you’ll see our current construction zone for its expansion. Along the right side of the photo you can see Emma Smith Drive, which has been widened and now includes a center island.
The parking garage expansion project is proceeding on schedule. The last of a total of 47 caissons was drilled and filled with concrete as we turned the calendar to start the month of May. Next up, construction crews will connect the caissons with grade beams (also known as footers) upon which the structure of the parking deck will rest.
As the grade beams are being formed and poured, work will continue to establish a new elevator shaft and stairwell near the northeast corner of the existing parking deck (that’s the lower left corner of the deck in the photo above).
Near the middle of the month, we expect to receive new LED lights which will be installed in the existing parking garage. We’re looking forward to saving thousands of dollars each month in electricity costs by switching to these more efficient bulbs.
