The days are getting cooler and we’ve just fallen back to end daylight saving time, and here at the hospital we’re finishing some landscaping projects before winter sets in.
First, the memorial garden behind our existing parking garage is just about ready to be enjoyed. The landscaping work will be finished very soon and we’ll be adding benches to complete the project.
On the other side of the garage, in front of the newest section, we’ve created a stormwater pond. The pond’s liner has been installed and we’re layering gravel, sand and dirt on top of the plastic sheeting. Once those materials are down we’ll be planting trees and shrubs as ground cover. The pond will be relatively dry unless we see a measurable amount of rain. The stormwater will collect in the pond and then filter down to a large underground pipe.
In the new area of the garage itself, construction crews are continuing to run pipe, caulk joints and run conduit for the new lights, electricity and fire alarms. The new elevator for the shaft on the northeast corner of the garage has been delivered and installation will begin shortly.
Our pledge is to keep you informed. You can track our construction progress through our Flickr Photostream. As always, if you have feedback for us, please feel free to leave a comment right here on our blog, reach out to us on Facebook, or talk to us on Twitter.
