The construction of the parking garage is nearly complete. Work crews are putting the finishing touches on the interior of the facility and the garage will be ready for occupancy on Monday, February 10th. On that Monday, the entrance to the garage off of Park Avenue will close and will only be available for use in the event of an emergency situation.
We wish to thank our neighbors for their patience during the construction of the parking garage. We understand that there were days and times that we managed construction noise and traffic better than other days, and we have appreciated your input throughout the process.
In addition to more than 400 additional parking spaces on the main campus, this construction project has resulted in another positive outcome. The project has opened the lines of communication between the hospital and our neighbors. We have established several new vehicles for communication: the community newsletter, an e-mail distribution list of community leaders, cell phone numbers have been exchanged between community members and the FMH Security department and members of the senior leadership team. We promise to keep the lines of communication open moving forward.
Constructing the “Connector”
The next phase of construction – and all subsequent phases – will be taking place on the north side of the campus as construction work begins on connecting the new garage to the hospital. The connector will make it possible to enter the hospital from the parking garage without ever having to step outside into the elements. Construction is scheduled to begin in the fall. The orange color in the graphic shows the location of the connector construction.
